JUST IN: Buhari backs El Rufai's decision to sack 22,000 teachers

Ebun Francis || President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday threw his Presidential weigh behind the decision of Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El Rufai to sack over 21,000 primary school teachers in Kaduna State who failed the primary four pupils competency test recently conducted by the state government.

President Buhari voiced his support for El Rufai's move while declaring open the special retreat for federal executive council members on the challenges facing Nigeria's education sector.
The decision by the governor did not go down well with a section of the populace who has called on him to have a rethink.
The President's position was relayed through his Twitter handle @Mbuhari.

I touched on the situation in Kaduna, where Gov @elrufai is trying to implement important reforms. It's a very serious situation when teachers cannot pass the exams they're supposed to administer to their students. It underscores the urgent need for comprehensive national reform.
