 Lagos, The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Nigeria, Amb. John Groffen, on Thursday restated his government’s commitment to sharing its agricultural experience and knowledge with Nigeria.
Groffen told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that Nigeria was one of Netherlands strategic partners that his government was willing to share its agricultural expertise with.
``Our relatively small country, both in size and in population, holds the position of second largest exporter of agricultural products
worldwide.
``Netherlands is willing to share its agricultural experience and knowledge with partners all over the world, including Nigeria.
``Our universities are open to Nigerians who wish to increase their knowledge in a particular agricultural field or sector,’’ he said.
Groffen said that it was imperative for Netherlands to share her agricultural knowledge with her partners, especially now that there
was global high demand for quality food.
The Ambassador said that the Dutch government had over the years evolved a system whereby government, academic institutions and private companies work closely together in achieving their set goals.
``We are investing in a durable relationship with Nigeria as well.
``Our businesses are encouraged to explore options and opportunities to invest abroad, including Nigeria.
``We are discussing with government officials about how to collaborate best,’’ Groffen said.
The envoy said a delegation of Nigerian farmers had in October last year, visited the Netherlands during which they had the opportunity of interacting with Netherlands horticulture, food processing and packing enterprises. (NAN)
