COURT RULES LULU, OGUNJOBI MUST FACE TRIAL

A federal high court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, Nigeria, presided over by Justice E. S. Chukwu has dismissed a no case submission filed by the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation( NFF),Mr Sani Lulu, in the corruption charge brought against him and three other memembers of the assoiciation by the Economic and Financial Crime commission.
 In a statement made available to reporters on Tuesday by the Head Of Media of the Efcc, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, others charged with him are Taiwo Ogunjobi, Amanze Uchegbulam and Bolaji Ojoba.
 The trio were  charged on September 6, 2010, for allegedly misappropriating over N1.55billion released by the federal government for the 2010 world cup held in South Africa.
 They were specifically accused of  siphoning about $125,000 on shoddy accommodation bookings, $250,000 lost as a result of booking the wrong airline for the trip, $400,000 allegedly expended on the Nigerian|Colombian friendly match and $236,000 that vanished from the coffers of the football house in 2009.
 The former officials were also accused of flouting  due process in the purchase of two marcopolo buses for the national teams as well as sharing N185,000,000 amongst states FA chairmen in their bid to stall their removal from office.
 The statement from EFCC, quoted Justice chukwu as dismissing the application on the ground that the defendants were bound by the public procurement act and as such should defend themselves in the charges leveled against them.
 The case has been adjourned to march 9, 2016 for the ccused persons to open their defence.
